There surely seems to be a spirit in our age to rebel against everyone and everything! Society as a whole appears to be coming apart at the seams. And yet, God has designed government, family, and the social order of things for our benefit, our prosperity, and our peace. In the midst of the chaos, God’s people are to be the “salt and light” of our culture.

Faith Prays For One’s Offenders!

“After Job had prayed for his friends, the Lord restored his fortunes and doubled his previous possessions.

All his brothers, sisters, and former acquaintances came to him and dined with him in his house. They sympathized with him and comforted him concerning all the adversity the Lord had brought on him. Each one gave him a piece of silver and a gold earring. So the Lord blessed the last part of Job’s life more than the first. He owned fourteen thousand sheep and goats, six thousand camels, one thousand yoke of oxen, and one thousand female donkeys. He also had seven sons and three daughters. He named his first daughter Jemimah, his second Keziah, and his third Keren-happuch. No women as beautiful as Job’s daughters could be found in all the land, and their father granted them an inheritance with their brothers. Job lived 140 years after this and saw his children and their children to the fourth generation. Then Job died, old and full of days.” (Job 42:10–17, CSB)

Accusers can be such a pain in our souls, can’t they? And when we are going through misery, having several people attack us with their words seems the epitome of wickedness. Often we can’t wait for God to avenge us by dealing drastically with them. But what does God ask Job to do for his “miserable counselors” who have verbally waged war on him? God asked Job to pray for them! And WHEN Job prayed for them, God RESTORED and DOUBLED Job’s losses!
